Landing in Salt Lake City
24 hours in SLC & detouring to the Salt Flats
We flew into SLC, spent 24 hours in the city. Visiting Temple Square is a must, it’s beautiful and the gardens feel like you’re in another country. We wandered around and then ate at The Ivy for dinner.
My favorite part about SLC is we took it slow, did an early dinner and woke up early just to sit in bed, sip coffee and enjoy the view. Afterward we packed up and started making our way to the Salt Flats.
The Great Salt Lake
The Salt Flats are about a 2 hour detour from Sundance, but totally worth the trip. On the way, you can make a quick stop at The Great Salt Lake — and, yes, it tastes very salty.

The Bonnieville Salt Flats
Right off the highway, there’s a lot where you can park, or drive right onto the salt flats yourself. It’s breathtaking—but also unpredictable, with high winds and chilly air. We got lucky and we’re able to spent about an hour at the flats with great conditions. 10/10 worth making the drive on your way to Sundance.
Arrival at Sundance
From the moment you arrive at Sundance Resort, a wave of calmness comes over you. The scenery, the fresh mountain air—it’s unforgettable.
Picnic on Property
I highly recommend grabbing a sheet form your cabin, getting food to-go from the Provisions and popping a glass of Prosecco with your loved one on the beautiful campus of Sundance Resort.
Getting Outdoors
@SundanceResort
We visited in September, when the crisp mountain air made for perfect conditions for hiking, zip-lining and so much more. We would always start each day with coffee outside our cabin and end the nights with a cocktail and the hot tub.
