Rijksmuseum

A Dutch national museum dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam

We went to the Rijsmuseum on our first full day. It ended up being the only museum we really went to. We also went to the Anne Frank house which was somewhat of a museum. However, I don’t have any photos from there.

The Rijksmuseum was pretty cool and definitely somewhere worth checking out, especially if you like museums.

There was an audio tour that you could use your phone to take. These are some photos that the tour guided me to.

You might recognize that photo of a man. It’s a self portrait of Van Gough, Vincent van Gough.

Heineken Experience

Interactive tour through beer giant's history in former brewery, with a tasting room finale.

The industrial facility was built as the first Heineken brewery in 1867, serving as the company's primary brewing facility until 1988 when a more modern, larger facility was constructed on the outskirts of the city.

After a year of extensive remodeling and expansion, the Heineken Experience reopened to visitors on 3 November, 2008. The latest transformation of the visitor experience comprises four levels of historical artifacts, product exploration and sampling, and interactive exhibits which employ the latest high-tech multi-media technologies.

Anne Frank House

During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex.

The entire experience was so surreal that it demanded my full attention and respect. O didn’t get a chance to take many pictures. In fact, the only photo I took was of the artifact of one of the Jewish star patches that all Jews were forced to wear during the war.

De Hallen

The centre for media, culture, fashion, food and crafts with a libary, hotel, cinema, local markt and foodhall

Alongside its plentiful cultural and architectural attractions, De Hallen also boasts the magnificent Foodhallen; a classy indoor food market lined with stalls of top-notch street food from some of Amsterdam’s most respected kitchens, as well as plentiful bars and seating areas and a swish grill restaurant; Meat West.

I had a Vietnamese chicken bowl!

Festival of Lights

Canal Tour

Amsterdam is set aglow during the Amsterdam Light Festival, when artists from around the world are given the chance to create elaborate light displays along the city's iconic canals.
