Frishman Falafel

Address: Frishman St 42, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

What could be better than a warm pita filled with fresh falafel, homemade tahini, layers of different salatim (aka cucumber tomato salad, also called “Israeli Salad”, cabbage salad, chopped herbs) all topped with an hot crunchy potato cigar?! NOTHING!

Located just a few blocks away from the beach this falafel stand is an absolute must!

Bar Ochel

Address: HaCarmel Street 38, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Bar Ochel is located in the Shuk HaCarmel in Tel Aviv. I usually come here mid morning around 11-11:30, walk the Shuk (aka work up an appetite) and halfway through you’ll find this gem.

If you want the best seats in the house I’d recommend sitting at the bar, if there’s a wait, WAIT - trust me. They give you free shots during your meal which is why this is the best seat in the house.

I always always order the Balkan Shakshuka, it’s shakshuka with eggplant and fresh feta cheese. What is shakshuka you might ask? It’s a delicious acidic tomatoey, garlicy, peppery sauce with fresh cracked eggs inside. Don’t worry, they give you an unlimited bread basket with the best sauces.

NonStop Burekas

Address: Bograshov St 11, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Imagine creamy feta and bulgari cheese smothered between flakey dough. That my friends is what you‘ll experience at NonStop Burekas. They also have amazing pizza burekas filled with cheese and tomato sauce.

They serve the bureka of your choice on a wood board with all the fixings: tahini, shredded tomato, schug (garlicy, fiery, herby green sauce that’s a staple in Israeli cuisine), and top it off with a hard boiled egg. If there’s not a hard boiled egg on top of your burekas it doesn’t count, okay?

Oh by the way, did I mention they’re open 24/7. Yep.

Trust me, go here.

La La Land

Address: 131 Herbert Samuel Street, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. Located at Gordon Beach.

La La Land is nestled on the sand at the famous Gordon Beach. Enjoy a great meal with your toes in the sand, because how often do you get to do that?! You can also rent day beds at Gordon Beach and order from any of La La Land’s waiters, they’re the guys in hot pink shirts. Wherever you decide to sit, the food is always spot on.

The Greek Salad (pictured above) is my favorite salad on planet earth for one reason and one reason only, the CHEESE. Israel is known for their dairy products, but let me tell you that the cheese in this country should be illegal because it’s OUT of this WORLD. Anyways, the combination of the cold cucumbers, tomatoes, and kalamata olives topped with this soft salty cheese is everything you need in life. I swear. Order it and thank me later.

You can’t go wrong with anything on La La Land’s menu but this Greek Salad should definitely be the first thing you order.

Other LA LA LAND menu stars:

Lamb Cigars served with tahini and radish salad, I had this for breakfast at 10am, enough said.

Shawarma Hummus platter, it’s insane.

Schnitzel and fries, yuuuuum.

Cafe Carr - The best coffee Israel has to offer. Ask for a side of simple syrup. Again, trust me!
