<h2>The researchers tested 11 different brands of water from 27 different lots. Overall, 259 individual bottles were tested.</h2>
<h2>93 percent of the bottles showed a sign of microplastic contamination, the researchers say.</h2>

<p>AI art is art that has been created using artificial intelligence. This can include a wide range of techniques and approaches, from using AI algorithms to generate images or sounds, to using AI to assist with the creative process. Some artists may use AI to create entirely new forms of art, while others may use it to enhance or augment their existing work. In general, the goal of AI art is to explore the intersection of art and technology, and to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of art.</p>
<p>Every image and some text in this Mag was generated by AI. </p>

<p>I know it’s heavy seeing A LOT of me…but let’s focus on how INSANE this technology is. I simply imported 10 photos. All photos have to be in selfie or portrait format, which can be easily found in your albums when opening up your camera roll. </p>
<p>Upload photos, then in minutes you have 100’s of variations of brand new art made by who? AI mixed with the food you feed it. </p>

<p>Dall-E doesn’t only allow you to make images based off of description, but now allows you to type what you want and AI will draft up the “almost” perfect copy in 1 second. </p>
<p>As you see above, I wrote 1 line and below is what was generated in one second. This is mind blowing. </p>
<p> AI text is important because it allows machines to understand and generate human-like text, which makes them well-suited for tasks such as chatbots and virtual assistants. This can be useful in a wide range of applications, including customer service, language translation, and content generation. By using AI to process and generate text, businesses and organizations can improve the efficiency and accuracy of their operations, and provide better service to their customers. Additionally, the use of AI in text-related tasks can help to improve the user experience by making it more convenient and enjoyable to interact with machines. Where was this when I was in school!!</p>

<p>“DALL-E and DALL-E 2 are deep learning models developed by OpenAI to generate digital images from natural language descriptions, called "prompts". DALL-E was revealed by OpenAI in a blog post in January 2021, and uses a version of GPT-3 modified to generate images”.</p>
<p>Under both images, the caption was the exact description typed in to generate the images. In seconds, Artificial Intelligence painted these! </p>

<p>From pitching baseballs to pitching NFTs</p>

<p>I was born in Baltimore Maryland and grew up mostly in Sarasota, Florida. During my years in middle school, my family and I moved often, back-and-forth between Maryland and Florida. This created an instability in my social life as I never really had one place to call home or the opportunity to form deep relationships with my peers. This also brought my family closer to one another.</p>

<p>I started playing baseball when I was four years old and played a few years of Little League before starting travel ball. I simply love the game, love to get better every day, and truly enjoy the time spent with my older brother who has helped me train and work out. </p>
<p>Our entire family grew up Baltimore Oriole fans which is the hometown team and Camden yards was my first big league ball park I ever went to a game when I was around five years old. </p>
<p>Growing up, I was a huge fan of Adam Jones and can say that he is one of the first people to inspire and awaken the creativity within me. Jones always had custom cleats and motivated me to paint my own pair of old cleats too that I played in religiously until they started to chip in high school.</p>
<p>The inspiration and creativity didn’t stop there, it only grew. It led me to creating the majority of digital concept designs for a custom cleat customizer named Stadium Custom Kicks.</p>

<p>My creativity is what has drawn me to the NFT space and since entering it, I have learned a lot from my spring training teammate, Matt Szczur. Matt and I have a lot in common. He has a 2016 World Championship under his belt but he is also very creative like myself. He took me under his wing and explained how to get into the NFT space and I did just that, seizing the opportunity.</p>
<p>During my freshman year of high school, I attended Severna Park High School. We had an unbelievably talented team and even though I was a freshman on varsity, I pitched very well and also played a very solid shortstop. </p>
<p>My head coach Jim Mccandless was my idol. Him putting me on varsity, trusting me, and giving me confidence throughout practices and games made me draw a very close connection with him. He was way more than a coach, you could even say a catalyst into me becoming the player that I am today.</p>

<p>I made it to the state championship game during my freshman year and was named the starting pitcher. During the practice before that game, Coach Mccandless printed out the transcript of Jimmy V’s ESPYs speech and read it to the entire team. I did not know who Jimmy V was nor North Carolina State University. </p>
<p>Long story short, I did terribly on the mound in that state championship game and we lost the game. We were all heartbroken.</p>
<p>Fast forward to September in my sophomore year, an old teammate from Maryland reached out to me and told me the heartbreaking news - Coach Mccandless took his own life. He had two daughters, one of them was only a few months old and I never got any closure from that. He didn’t leave a note or anything. </p>

<p>Around my Junior and Senior year of high school, I started getting in contact with some colleges. I reached out and was interested in colleges that had the major I was interested in studying, aerospace engineering. A lot of good baseball programs reached out to me but I was smart even as a highschooler and I understood there was more than baseball. I used my brains as a Plan B if baseball didn’t work out. </p>

<p>When I went on my unofficial visit to NC State in Raleigh North Carolina, I loved everything about it. I also learned that Coach Mccandless and Coach Avent (NC State Head Coach) were on the same coaching staff when they both coached for New Mexico state university. </p>
<p>I just felt like this was my home.</p>
<p>After the visit my family and I went to a local mall in Raleigh where a special song was playing. Coach Mccandless during BP would love to listen to 70s and 80s music. One of the songs that I vividly remember is the song September by Earth, Wind, and Fire. I started to tear up a little bit because that song was playing in the background at a local store. </p>
<p>That’s when I knew North Carolina State was going to be the university I attend.</p>
<p>I worked extremely hard to earn a position but my sophomore year I was blocked by a senior at third base. I earned that position but unfortunately somethings don’t play out the way you want. So I had to be patient and wait about 10 games for my first opportunity. After that, I took off and absolutely started dominating the ACC. I went on to hit around 360 that year. And then I got drafted by the Cardinals my junior year. The rest is history. </p>

<h1>“Don’t give up, don’t ever give up”</h1>
<h2>My inspiration:</h2>
<p>I started with a simple helmet and let my creativity take over. As I was creating, I thought back to the time I got hit in the head by a ball and that’s what inspired the shatter part of the helmet. I also broke my wrist 2x in 2019 ending my season. The helmet represents my body and how precious it really is. The background comes from always loving the water, especially the beach. At my home in palm beach I always enjoy eating lunch out on the dock watching the waves and seeing the boats and yachts pass by.</p>

Jim&#39;s 1993 ESPY Speech

<p>As I was creating and brainstorming ideas for filling the subject, Jimmy V came to my mind. I was watching ESPN as background noise and that’s when the Jimmy V 30 for 30 came on and that’s also when everything came together. “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up. I’m going to have a Jimmy V inspired NFT,” I thought to myself. </p>
<p>While listening to his speech, one part stuck out to me the most.</p>
<p>“Try if you can to support, so that someone else might survive, might prosper and might actually cured of this dreaded disease.”</p>
<p>I then said to myself I CAN support! Maybe not with my dollars but my art can. So I decided to donate 100% of proceeds to the<a href="https://www.v.org/our-story-2/?gclid=CjwKCAjwj6SEBhAOEiwAvFRuKD7fod6i7Vvihn9AxZnYljG_gwBY8hdWZW-ZgQpPq5sM_CND8wJTwRoCiUYQAvD_BwE"> V Foundation</a> for cancer research. </p>
<p>The V Foundation is the foundation that Jimmy V started while he was battling cancer himself which he announced during his 1993 ESPYs speech. It would be an incredible dream come true for me if some new research comes out from the money we raised, and even saved one life. We cannot and will not learn if we do not research. We have to fund this. </p>
<p>Who would have known that the same speech my Coach read to me years before would be the inspiration behind my NFT? I certainly did not but am so grateful that it is</p>

It was made in the physical world and transformed in the digital world. This project started as a portrait by Camille of a boy embracing himself. She painted a boy who is seen as strong and handsome by society but who longs to be held as he looks for safety. Sharing a fragment of herself through her portraits, Camille conveys a strong sense of inward fragility that is only seen in these small moments of silence. Fellow Bay Area artist Gabe Weis, then came in with courage and strength, using his signature bold lines, street art aesthetic and multiple faces to paint a picture of a complex man with boldness and confidence. He turns the boy into a man, and shielded him from his insecurities. The hand that rests on his shoulder is one of comfort, and not of fear. The contrasting emotions create a beautiful story of one personality. The 5th NFT in this series will come with an unlockable that is the original physical painting, which is 30 by 40" and on canvas. Winner of PRINT magazines New Visual Artist award in 2015, and ADC Young Guns in 2012. His studio and art practice is located in New York City.</p>
<p>A pioneer in the digital art world, <a href="https://instagram.com/justinmaller?igshid=17c083r6ap2pl">Justin Maller</a> has been creating work at the juncture of avant garde and pop culture since the turn of the century. Maller has had a celebrated career pushing the boundaries of the digital medium as an independent artist. Since founding seminal art collective Depthcore in 2002, he has created work for clients including Nike, Gatorade, The Grammys, Dolby, LG, Jordan and Under Armour. Building on this success, Maller’s groundbreaking, year-long project ‘Facets’ forged an iconic brand cemented in his trademark geometric approach. This style has had a visible and lasting influence on visual art practice around the world. This auction is helping to raise money for organisations working on reforestation, empowering women &amp; rebuilding ecosystems, such as our partners @JustDigIt who are doing fantastic work. We went to Kenya last year to see it in action &amp; it was truly incredible.</p>
<p>Although he originally studied and honed his skills in more traditional mediums of art and design, over the last 4 years <a href="https://instagram.com/jhgfx?igshid=3ljh68kzso69">Jordan Harrison</a> (jhgfx) had began to fall into the world of 3D design. Teaching himself how to model, texture and illuminate scenes he starting to create more complex 3D artwork and branch out into motion design. His work is heavily influenced by music, usually taking a single scrap or detail from a project or body of work and creating an entire piece around in. 'The iconic Disclosure face was a perfect illustration to bring into the 3D world. Throughout it's history, usually plastered onto the faces of numerous collaborators, I wanted to add another dimension to the band’s decade old ideogram. Experimenting with perspective and dragging the face into different dimensions in 3D space.'</p>

<p>I chose to use a Sea Turtle in this piece because all seven species are currently threatened or endangered. As with many other endangered species on this earth, it’s mostly because of our own doing. When we protect what we love and respect all living things, we’re able to thrive as a whole and preserve life on this planet for generations to come.</p>

<p>I’m not much of a writer. I’ve enjoyed it throughout my scholastic career as a challenge to my own struggling attention span, but I’ve found my story telling solitude via other outlets. Photos and designs were always more my speed, allowing for my thoughts to express themselves in their rawest form, no spell checking or formalities required. This passion for media and an awkward relationship with literature has ironically brought us here. </p>
<p>2020 was the year of Magma for me. The product you’re reading this on was once a simple idea in my head. Brewing into a tangible plan that my team and I focused on for the last 2 and a half years. With plans to fully lunch and dominate in 2020, we put everything on the line and in one basket. With the unfortunate change in landscapes for our industry and every other, we were faced with challenges and feats that were not in the initial instruction manual for starting this company. </p>
<p>With that we pushed forward. </p>
<p>We made due with what we had for every challenge the economy and market threw at us. Every janky, duct taped solution we implemented was treated as if it were iron clad. Every relationship, even those that were near non existent, was viewed as life long and essential. We took what we had and made what we were. In the eyes of most that might be viewed as “surviving”. I look at it as Thriving. Without the proper outlook something so important to myself, my partner, team and investors would have evaporated into a pile of things to be written off during this year.</p>
<p> Thankfully that’s not the case. At Magma we intend to use the substances of 2020 as fuel for the machine we’re driving. Taking from it the criticism, praise and content and immediately turning it into tangible progress. </p>
<p>This platform was built for YOU. Whatever you make of it to benefit YOURSELF was and will always be our mission. From day 1 I’ve always viewed this product as something that will compliment whatever the user utilizes on a daily basis. I have never felt the need to “disrupt” or challenge others in our space for fear of limiting our opportunities and burning bridges to our success. And so far I could not be more proud of what Magma has become. </p>
<p>With thousands of Mags published from over 50 countries, I have read some truly amazing stories. Some short and sweet, some visually heavy and others perfectly imperfect. Every single one of them has brought a smile to my face and pride to my team.</p>
<p>If there is anything to be taken from this ramble it’s that among the craziness we are all capable of powering through. It’s sometimes the sketchy, far fetched solutions that unfold into the most robust of plans. This year was the missing piece to our education of life and everyone had a different yet equally important textbook. Don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of your mission as there is nothing more important. Who knows what next year will look like. For better or worse Magma isn’t slowing down anytime soon. We’re behind our users and community 110% and will always come second to their needs.
