<p>If you aren’t online you don’t exist. It’s gotten to that point. It doesn’t matter if you are the best photographer in the world… if people aren’t able to access and see your images online there is someone else’s images that they can. They will choose them over you. They don’t know who you are.</p>

<h1>Your brand encompasses your entire way of life. </h1>
<p>It’s not just your previous work, it also includes what you aspire to be, what things you want to do in the future, what life you WANT to have. Don’t think of your brand as a logo or a color palette because it is so much more. It’s just as complex as you are. It’s your tone, it’s your personality, it’s your interests, it’s your dreams and it’s also your fears. Share all of those and the best way to do that is to categorize them and share them in a way people can unfold them when they want to. </p>
<h1>I own a company… isn’t that the same thing?</h1>
<p>No it’s not. You may close your company, sell it, or desire to do things outside of your company. Your personal brand is just like your name…. It’s going to be valuable to you and your network for your entire life. It will come and go on different platforms but people will know it’s you based on the brand loyalty and value you provide.</p>

<p>We all know plenty of photographers… if you are on a budget. Call in a favor with them. Make a trade for some headshots, for some candid shots of you working, for photos of the things that make up who you are.</p>

<h2>Video Content.</h2>

<p>Video is now more accessible than ever. There is no reason to not start building your YouTube channel and Facebook Watch channel. You have an iPhone that shoots 4k. You have everything you need. (See my other mag on what all gear I’ve been using for my podcast/ content)</p>

<h2>Copy.</h2>
<p></p>
<p>This one is harder for me. I’m not a great writer. I hop around a lot. That’s how my brain works. All I can recommend with the copy that you connect with your personal brand is keep it simple. Gary Vaynerchuck loves the Jets and he values Social Media and Hard Work. Find a handful of things that you care about more than anything else and start to create some copy around that. Keep it simple. Keep in mind that no one piece of content is going to go viral. We aren’t trying to go viral… we are trying to create value.</p>

<h2>Don’t Sell. Help.</h2>

<p>The best way to build awareness of who you are is by helping people. That always gets peoples attention. Don’t ask or sell people things especially with your personal brand. You want to be a friend who is always giving and helping others. You don’t want to be constantly asking people to follow, like, comment, buy, subscribe etc…. Just be there for people. Don’t be a shitty human just be kind.</p>

<p>Well maybe you should! Do you feel like you are missing out? Cuz you are!</p>
<p>We all feel the need to be sharing more right? I think it’s a great thing. The internet is revolutionizing the way we connect and it’s only getting deeper and deeper. Long form content allows people who don’t know you well or aren’t in your corner of the world to get to know you better! They can tune into a simple conversation you are havin with someone else and begin to place you in their life accordingly. Are you someone to pay attention to? Are you a valuable person to know? </p>

<p>As I type this I realize that may be my new life goal “become someone who is valuable to know” .</p>
<p></p>
<p>Four or five years ago I begin consuming #GaryVaynerchuks content. All of it. Which if you know him it’s a ton. People either love him or hate him. Here’s why.... he’s a lot. Like he’s a powerful person, he puts out 100+ pieces of content / day and he shares everything. Some people think that’s “Extra” . But I’m trying to tell you to have an open mind and realize that it’s not extra. It’s the new norm. If you want to grow in life you must do so online! It’s not enough to just simply exist. We see opportunities others have online that just don’t make sense to us. They don’t make sense bec you aren’t “out there” once you put yourself out there you will realize you grow your network quickly! People pay attention bec you are in there industry or their city. They can’t ignore you anymore. They again place you in there mental in the category of “ I want to know more about this person” , or  “I should reach out to them” , or “I think I will need them for a project” , “wow they are smart I wanna learn from their experiences” .... there’s endless benefits to putting yourself out there.</p>

<p>I’m putting myself out there right now by writing haha.... I hate it . I’m terrible at it! </p>

    <h1>Grab your high waters&nbsp;</h1>
    <h2>With significant rain fall in the last month the Illinois River has almost broke a record high.&nbsp;</h2>
    <p>Adventure is common in my family however being a morning person is not. I had mentioned to my dad that the river has some cool spots to kayak when the water is a little high. Well with it being up about 20 feet the surrounding wooded areas are all flooded which made for a great 6am kayak session with my dad and our other buddy dave.&nbsp;</p>

    <h2>Stalking some wild life while kayaking through the flood waters</h2><p>Bald Eagles are native to Illinois but I’m not used to seeing them up close. I’m used to only seeing them catching fish in the frozen Illinois river but this time I got to kayak around just below them in the trees. This particular one made eye contact several times but didn’t seem to concerned with some early morning kayakers down below.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Photo doesn’t do them justice they are very large majestic birds.&nbsp;</p>

    <p>This text has nothing to do with the design other than it’s about the city that Jerry’s Shop is close to.... Peoria is a city in central Illinois. Set on the Illinois River, the Peoria Riverfront Museum has a striking, contemporary design. It offers a planetarium, a sculpture garden and a collection of fine art. Northeast, near Peoria Lake, Glen Oak Park includes the Luthy Botanical Garden and the Peoria Zoo. West of the city, Wildlife Prairie Park has forest trails and native animals, including bison, cougars and bears.</p>
