<p>Over the years, he has wowed crowds and even Prince himself, once thanked him and brought him onstage.!</p>

<p>I first witnessed Julian at a performance and was amazed at how his stage presence almost perfectly matched Prince! </p>

<p>Welcome to <a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/magma/id1325767750">Magma</a> . Our goal is to provide the easiest and most powerful way to publish anything. Blogs, travel itineraries, news articles, look books and more can be created and published in minutes. Once published these MAGS can be shared literally anywhere with the tap of a button. If someone interacts with the MAG’S link it will open that Mag on any device and within any platform. Let’s say you tweeted a Mag showcasing your favorite pasta recipe. If someone were to click that tweet without having the Magma app, it would open the Mag within Twitter’s browser. If they had the app, it would prompt the Mag to open within Magma. This way you can focus more on delivering beautiful content to where your audience already exists rather than trying to guide them to a new destination.</p>

<h1>The Profile</h1>
<p>All of your Mags &amp; Social in one place.</p>
<p>In your settings from your profile you can easily add a profile picture, a background, write a caption and add links to all of your other channels. By easily adding your username for Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, a badge will appear on your profile that opens your other profiles up, right in the Magma app! By adding a website url, an icon will appear alongside your social ones that will direct users straight to the page. </p>
<p>On your Magma profile you will see a number of different tabs. </p>
<p><strong>MAGS</strong>: This is your content. Everything you publish will go here</p>
<p><strong>STACK</strong>: If you save a Mag you love to your stack, it will appear here for your audience to read as well. Mags you save to your private stack will appear only for your eyes with a lock icon on the cover.</p>
<p><strong>PRIVATE</strong>: These are your Mags that are hidden unless you share a link with someone.</p>
<p><strong>DRAFTS</strong>: Your masterpieces that have yet to be published or are currently being created but are not yet ready. </p>
<p>The beauty of your Magma profile is it’s versatility to be present anywhere. By pasting your profile link anywhere, it’s a portal for any viewer to see all of your content from a single place, while highlighting your most powerful posts, your Mags.</p>

<h1>Creating a Mag.</h1>
<p>Although it can be daunting at first, designing and publishing a Mag is super easy. </p>
<p>It’s best to start with a concept in mind of what you want your readers to get out of your Mag. Your cover is your Mag’s “first impression”. It’s the most captivating image from your story, the best title and any other hints you’d like readers to know before they open it.</p>
<p>A cover can be designed from scratch or you can use a cover template as inspiration and fill in the template with your own content.</p>

<p>Just like a cover, the rest of your Mag has templates as well. They are broken down into three categories. Master, article and gallery and are useful for different content or to be combined to form a great published work.</p>
<p>Master templates are essentially covers within a mag. Think of it as an intro into a single page or article within your Mag. </p>
<p>If you want something visual, gallery templates are a great way to keep the writing down and let photos and videos tell your story. </p>
<p>If a written narrative is important, article templates are the way to go. They offer text boxes as well a media boxes. For reference, this page is an article template.</p>
<p>Once your Mag is ready for publishing your almost there. Adding a simple yet informative caption is vital as this will become the Mag’s URL. Those key words ultimately help your Mag gain SEO with sites like google. You can even add a location to help your Mag be discovered based on people searching for that location.</p>
<p>Next select up to 4 genres that best represent what your Mag is about. This allows others searching for specific content to discover your Mag. </p>
<p>Finally select the privacy of your Mag. If you want the maximum discoverability both on and off Magma, public is the way to go. If you only want those who subscribe to you to be able to read the Mag, select “subscribers only”. If your Mag is for your eyes only or only for those you choose to see it, select private.</p>

<p>Once your Mag is published, you can share it anywhere. We’re serious. </p>

Six Mile Lake

<h1>Six Mile Lake Pride Parade</h1>
<p>For Six Mile Lake, the problems of the pandemic called for an innovative solution, which is now becoming a welcome tradition. This tight lake community is coming together for a second year to show solidarity and support for our LGBTQ+ community, holding their second annual Gay Pride Boat Parade on June 26. </p>
<p></p>
<p>Due to COVID-19 strict social distancing measures and the elimination of large social gatherings, community events are still being cancelled. However, one determined young woman and a gay rights advocate, found a way to raise hope and create something fun and positive in support of her friends in the LGBTQ+ community.</p>

<p>Allison Vidug has deep rooted ties to Six Mile Lake where her great grandfather first purchased property in the 1940s. As a lifelong cottager with a love of the lake, the land, and the nature surrounding it, Allison took the leap and moved from the city to live here full time in April 2021 to put down permanent roots.</p>

<p>As an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, Allison wanted to celebrate Gay Pride Week with a socially distanced parade where everyone could participate, while remaining within their own social bubbles and still show their love and support for the community. Last year, without knowing how the idea would be received or even how many people and vessels would participate, Allison posted a brief outline on the Six Mile Lake facebook page one week before the scheduled parade providing details of the lake parade route. </p>

<p>The morning of the parade, Allison and her friends were left speechless as boat after boat arrived at the starting point, decorated and flying the pride flags, ready to sail the parade route. Young and old, including a couple in their 90s with limited mobility, found a way to join the festivities as the regatta of boats sailed by while cottagers on shore stood at their docks cheering, waving pool noodles, blowing air horns, and clapping in solidarity. It was truly a show of love, respect, and tolerance.</p>
<p>At the end of the parade route everyone dropped anchor for a swim and to take the opportunity to meet other cottagers, some for the first time, while revelling in the spirit of a new beginning and hope for the future of this lake community. </p>

<p>One mom explained "I have been on this lake my whole life and I have never seen an event like this. It brought me to tears of happiness at the outpouring of love". </p>

<p>The success of the 2020 lake parade created such buzz that immediately, many people came forward asking how they could participate in the next one, raising no doubt that there would be a repeat in 2021. With the enthusiasm and support of the community, the Six Mile Lake Annual Gay Pride Boat Parade is now established, including an extended route this year to include more of the lake shoreline.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Along with the residents’ interest comes far reaching support from local associations and establishments. The <u><a href="https://www.sixmilelake.net">Six Mile Lake Cottage Association</a></u> is pledging their support with the entry of a decorated pontoon boat that will be sailing alongside the rest of the boaters. <u><a href="https://www.muskokabrewery.com">Muskoka Brewery</a></u> will be joining and lending their name to the event. <u><a href="https://www.thep2plife.com/planned-2-perfection/">Planned 2 Perfection Limited</a></u> , <u><a href="https://www.thep2plife.com/paradise-2-perfection/">Paradise 2 Perfection Travel</a></u> and <u><a href="https://www.thep2plife.com">The P2P Life</a></u> are also proud to show their ongoing support of the community and its causes.</p>

<p>We want to provide healthy food security to not only our immediate area, but to our neighbors within Watts. We did a breakdown of what feedingupto1,500 families looks like over even 1 year:</p>
<p>▪️It is <u>sustainable</u> due to agreements already given by Whole Foods, Amazon and other highly reputable food organizations.</p>
<p>▪️It is <u>in the middle of the community in need</u> and brings the food to the residents. In comparison, other food banks are often on the outskirts of town and not accessible to residents that are having to juggle raising their children, work, lack of transportation, and lack of ability to travel with large amounts of food.</p>
<p>▪️The <u>consistency of weekly, high caliber, nutritious food</u> is the opposite of the unhealthy options low-income communities typically have access to.</p>
<p>▪️Our <u>large network of volunteers</u> (over 5,000 in total) makes this distribution affordable. We are alsoconsistently developing new partnership opportunities to acquire more food (and growing the need for this 40ft refrigeration unit).</p>
<p>▪️The fact that we could<u> feed up to 1,500 FAMILIES in Watts for $1.07/week or $0.15/day</u> is truly compelling. This 40ft refrigeration unit will enable this high impact innovative program! WILL YOU PLEASE HELP US? YOU CAN STILL CONTRIBUTE TODAY!</p>

<p>The Watts Empowerment Center is “The #1 Most Active Community Center in Los Angeles.” This 12,900 sq ft state-of-the-art facility committed to the children, youth, and families within Watts Housing Projects.</p>
<p>These 3.3 acres are the heartbeat of the community. Locals can discover their purpose and develop their talents with the help of top industry and business professionals that provide mentorship to many within the community.</p>

She has survived the oppression of the Holocaust, moved to Israel and worked, raised my father there while my Zaidy left for Canada, and then came to Canada and managed to lead our entire family as the matriarch. All while having a killer sense of humor. May we all be as brave and giving as you!

<p>Although not pictured above, I have to honor my step-mother in law Janis. Janis is one of the most incredibly kind people you will ever meet. She has a heart of gold and loves her family dearly. She is a strong advocate for mental health, yoga, and kindness. She is such a strong light in my life and those around her.</p>

<h1><strong>My Great Nana</strong></h1>
<p>My great grandmother is currently living alone in London. She served in the British forces during WWI and has much pride in that. She is a spitfire to say the least. She has suffered tremendous losses and continues to find strength within. The most intelligent woman I know. I am honored I was awarded the opportunity to know and learn from her. </p>

<p><strong>Maritza/Nana</strong></p>
<p>This woman has advocated for herself and her own daughters her entire life. She never needed a man to guide her. She is a true example of an independent woman who also chooses to embrace love. A wonderful mix and shining example of a modern woman, grandmother, wife, and daughter. </p>
<p><strong>Auntie Lisa</strong></p>
<p>Like a lotus flower, my aunt has overcome immense struggles and managed to rise and blossom from it. I applaud her strength, independence, and beauty. </p>

<p>Last but not least, my incredible friends. I am inspired by these women daily. We together and apart have managed to support one another with the utmost respect and love. I am so proud of this community of women and so incredibly honored to have them by my side. </p>

<p>Not all are pictured here but hopefully it provides some insight into the vibes we have all cultivated in this world. The women I choose to be a part of my life is definitely deliberate. I give energy to those that share theirs. To lifting each other up!</p>

<p>I am also proud of myself and the woman I am growing to be. If I could share one message today it’s that you can be both. You can be what you choose and you don’t need to follow any guidelines or rule books for that. In one picture I’m a Master’s level honor student in sweatpants. In the other I’m a model/actress on Instagram. </p>

<p>I can share my body and be intelligent at the same time. I can advocate for mental health while wanting to post pictures on the beach. I can be a mother, daughter, wife, employee, and more, wrapped in one. I have learned a lot about myself this past year and as uncomfortable as it is to highlight myself I think it’s important to share and learn to celebrate yourself as much as you do others. Especially if you’re a woman. </p>
